Both hands on the handles, no waiting, no sharing. Then the orcas start singing further and further away — and Finn works out that letting Grandpa take a turn is the only way to reach them.
“He's very scared of the dark, and gets upset if someone turns the light off while he's in the room.”
Oscar cannot get down the dark hallway — not with that shape on the wall. Then a calf gets stuck in the yard and someone has to reach the light switch. Turns out the monster was only Uncle Freddie's old coat.
“He's not very good at teamwork, or taking part in group activities.”
Jack won't pass. Not to Mia, not to anyone — until the score is level, the ball is at his feet, and he finally does. The cheer that follows is louder than any goal he'd have scored on his own.
“Starting swimming lessons, and scared of the deep end.”
Nina knows everything about rock pools and will not put one foot in water she cannot see the bottom of. One careful step becomes another, then another — and what is waiting on the far rocks is worth every one.

Knocking towers down is the best bit — until James shrinks into his own cardboard town and cheers a giant on. Then he watches a small cardboard boy gather up the pieces of a rocket he built with his grandad.

You'll read the finished book — every page — before we print anything. If something isn't right, tell us and we'll change it. Changed your mind completely? Cancel for a full refund any time before you approve, because nothing has been printed yet.
Once you approve, it goes to print as a one-off book with your child in it, so from that point we put things right with a revision or a reprint rather than a refund.
We use it only to draw your child as a character, and we delete it when your book is dispatched. It is never used for anything else.
