FAQs
How does it reach the person I’m giving it to?
By email, as soon as you order — or on a date you pick, if it’s for a birthday. Put their email in at the checkout and it goes straight to them. Leave it blank and it comes to you instead, so you can print it or forward it yourself.
Can I print it out and put it in a card?
Yes. The email opens onto a page you can print, and the code works exactly the same whether it’s been printed, forwarded or read off a screen.
Does it expire?
Yes — it’s valid for 12 months from the day it’s sent. Plenty of time to find the right moment, and the date is printed on the card itself.
What if the book costs more than the gift card?
The card covers as much as it can and they pay the difference at the checkout, like a part-payment. A £38 card covers a whole book with free UK delivery, so most people pay nothing extra.
And if they don’t spend it all?
Whatever’s left stays on the card for next time. Nothing is lost and nothing needs claiming.
Can I choose the story for them?
No, and that’s deliberate — the whole point is that the book is built around their child, by someone who knows that child. What you’re giving them is the book, not the brief.
How long does the book take to arrive once they use it?
They’ll meet their child’s character and choose from four story ideas in minutes, before paying. The finished book comes back for approval within 48 hours, and once they’re happy it’s printed and posted.
Can they use it towards a subscription?
Yes — it works on anything on the site, including the book club.
Can I get a refund on a gift card?
Gift cards themselves aren’t refundable, but the book comes with unlimited revisions — they can ask for changes as many times as it takes, right up until they approve it.
Once we’ve started writing and illustrating, we can’t offer a refund for a change of heart — each book is one of a kind and takes real time to make. Something not right? Reply to the order email and a real person will sort it.

Since starting nursery, Riley has become a bit of a nightmare when it comes to squishing bugs in the yard. She just hates them, but instead of being scared, she squashes them!! We created this book for her, featuring her grandma which shows her why bugs are so important, and she absolutely loves it. She certainly leaves ladybirds alone now!! Worth every penny, beautiful book.
Nora was terrified of having her hair washed — full operatic meltdown, every single bath. Her story had a mermaid who loved the waterfall. We're not 100% there yet, but the screaming's stopped. Small wins are everything at this age.
Bit cynical about whether a book would do anything for a kid who survives on chicken nuggets, but this book made trying new foods feel like a game. Every time he's struggling we get this out and it always seems to help. Great service.
My partner has bought personalised books from other places before, but they never look much like harry. Not enough for him to really notice anyway. Gogofable is a different thing altogether, the illustration captured him perfectly and the story was completely one-off for him. i don't think they re-use anything. Will be buying more
